Capgemini Executive Vice President, Group leader 5G and Edge Computing

As the 5G global leader of Capgemini Fotis works with Industry Verticals and Communications Service Providers, for their digital transformation journey. Using the power of the 5G technology ecosystem Fotis brings together global skills, consulting, system integration capabilities & assets of Capgemini and best global partners creating innovative solutions and cutting-edge use cases.

Fotis Karonis was previously the BT group CTIO for Enterprise & 5G Executive Lead, driving the delivery of the 5G the UK program, working with customers for Industry 5G-driven digital transformation in sectors as intelligent manufacturing, healthcare, transport & logistics, etc. A post he took up in May 2019 after driving the EE / BT launch of the first 5G network in the UK and amongst the first globally.

As CTIO of EE, he led EE the UK’s largest Mobile operator to be the first to launch 4G in the UK in 2012 and operate the best Mobile Network following the merger of the operators Orange and T-Mobile. Fotis was awarded Mobile Europe’s CTO of the Year in 2015.

Prior to that Fotis was CIO in Romtelecom, part of the OTE / DT group from 2007-2010 and earlier to that the Director of IT and Telecomms for build and operate of the Athens International Airport from 1997-2007.

Fotis is an Electrical Engineer, BSc, MSc and graduated from the University of Patras, Greece and MSc form University of Manchester UK.
